It’s fun to speculate and talk about who will be the Republican nominee in the 2016 presidential election. Although the election is still years away, the Republican National Committee has released a “2016 presidential straw poll” asking users to choose the three names they would most like to see as the Republican nominee.
The poll lists more than 30 possible 2016 nominees. We’ve heard most of these names tossed around for a White House run quite frequently like Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas), Sen. Rand Paul (Kentucky.), Gov. Scott Walker (Wisconsin) and of course, the media and establishment favorite, Gov. Chris Christie (New Jersey).
Some lesser talked about potential candidates on the list include former Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Governor Nikki Haley (South Carolina), and Governor Susana Martinez (New Mexico).
According to multiple polls, Christie remains the top choice for Republican Presidential nominee among likely voters.
While it may seem early to start considering 2016 candidates, I say it’s never too early to get to know some of these individuals and better understand their backgrounds and positions on the issues that matter. So for now, let’s have some fun. Who is your choice?
