It’s a warm, holiday weekend in Chicago. That means people are getting shot at a very quick pace in the Windy City. This past weekend was somewhat tame by Chicago standards, but nearly anywhere else in the country would be appalled by Chi-Town’s numbers.
So far this year, over 1,700 people has been shot in the city of Chicago and this weekend’s total – 33 shot; six of those shootings were fatal.
On top of that, authorities found a toddler’s severed head floating in a body of water near Garfield Park.
The violence caused by people using guns is often pointed out by critics of gun control policies. For a long time, Chicago had some of the strictest gun laws in the nation.
Only in the last few years has the city started to allow its citizens to keep and bear arms on any sort of proper scale.
