BOOM! Illinois Board Of Elections Affirms @TedCruz Is A Natural Born Citizen #CruzCrew

On the same night as the Iowa Caucus, not only did Senator Ted Cruz win big, but he also won another legal battle over the so-called birther issue.

The Illinois Board of Elections affirmed that Cruz is indeed a natural born citizen, and meets all requirements to appear on the state’s ballot when voting takes place in the March 15th primary. They mentioned the following:

The candidate is a natural born citizen by virtue of being born in Canada to his mother who was a U.S. citizen at the time of his birth.

The controversy came in response to a couple of individuals from Illinois that challenged his eligibility. I believe this is will be a big blow to those who were hoping for different results. Not only can Cruz continue to argue that federal law and the Constitution support his eligibility, but also mention past candidates too.

Mitt Romney’s father, George Romney, was eligible when he ran even though he was born in Mexico. Same with the case for John McCain, who was born in Panama, yet both went on to make their runs for president.

So this is nothing new. It is a non-issue and Illinois will be one of many states simply reaffirming the obvious. The only thing that is different is that this time we have a different candidate who was born in Canada, and those such as Donald Trump are singing the same conspiracy theory as before, but it won’t get them anywhere.
