In response to the criticism Ted Cruz has received from his “New York values” comment, he capitalized on it and shared a Meet The Press video from 1999 on twitter, in which Donald Trump lists some of his liberal values that he supports.

Here were some of Trump’s responses, including his view on gays serving in the military:
I lived in New York City in Manhattan all my life, so my views are a little bit different than if I lived in Iowa.
Regarding his question on partial birth abortion:
I’m very pro-choice, and again it may be a little bit of a New York background because there is some attitude in different parts of the country, and I was raised in New York.
Notice in both cases, Trump specifically mentions his New York background for holding these positions.
This is exactly what Cruz was referring to when he mentioned “New York values” in the debate. However, from Trump’s response in the debate, he tried to paint Cruz as someone not sympathetic for the tragedies of 9/11, and I believe it is a desperate attempt.
