Brian Williams 2016? It Could Happen!

The recent departure of NBC News anchor Brian Williams from the airwaves has fueled speculation that his career as a TV newsman is coming to a rapid and ungraceful end. Close scrutiny of stories told by Williams over the years have raised a lot of questions about his truthfulness, and the ensuing internet feeding frenzy would make it doubtful that he would ever be seen as a serious journalist again. At this point it seems unlikely that he will be able to return to the airwaves, but perhaps all of this could lead to Williams’ success in an entirely new career.

Is it possible that Brian Williams will run for President in 2016?

The idea may not be as far-fetched as it might seem. Hillary Clinton, the presumptive Democrat frontrunner has been staying out of sight as she and her campaign staff search for genuine accomplishments during her stint as Secretary of State. Unless they are able to find something successful in her past, Benghazi, her age, her husband’s trips to Fantaxxxy Island, and the fact that no one really wants her to be President might be her undoing. If Hillary is out of the picture, who do the Democrats have left?

Apparently that question has occurred to at least some in the media because there have recently been stories about the possibility of Biden running, as well as John Kerry and another moldy oldie, Gov. Jerry Brown. If they are going to dredge these up from the list of forgotten favorites, why not bring Al Gore back into the picture?

A Brian Williams candidacy would bring a fresh face into the field, and if he didn’t already have name recognition he certainly does now. Of course, he does have that whole helicopter being fired on story to be concerned about, but then again Hillary has one of those of her own. After eight years of President Barack “You can keep your doctor” Obama, what’s a couple of made up puppy rescue stories going to hurt? Being a pathological liar isn’t a disqualifier for Democrats, and in fact may even be seen as a highly sought after skill; remember even Democrats complimented Bill Clinton on being an “uncommonly good liar”. Heck, Williams could even hire Jonathan Gruber to be his campaign manager.
