Before Democrats get bent out of shape..Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker is talking about tax credits, not tax cuts. There is a difference. His tax credits would be available to everyone.
Walker rolled out his first big policy proposal Tuesday in Minnesota as he unveiled his plan to repeal and replace ObamaCare.
Walker said ObamaCare’s backwards approach has driven up health care costs and reduced access to medical care for too many people.
The GOP contender’s “Day One Patient Freedom Plan” consists of five steps:
- repealing ObamaCare in its entirety
- ensuring affordable and accessible health insurance for everyone
- making health care more efficient, effective and accountable by empowering the states,
- increasing quality and choice through innovation,
- providing financial stability for families and taxpayers
Walker also announced during his speech at a Minnesota warehouse:
“Simple as this – it starts out with premise on my first day as president, I will send legislation to once and for all repeal ObamaCare entirely”
According to CBS News”
If Walker’s plan were to pass, there would no longer be a mandate that all Americans purchase health insurance. Instead, Walker would provide tax credits to anyone who does not have employer-sponsored coverage. The credits range from $900 to $3,000 based on an individual’s age. Individuals who sign up for a Health Savings Account (HSA) would also receive a $1,000 refundable tax credit and he would raise the limits on tax-free HSA contributions.
