Jaydon Chavez-Silver was ambushed from behind by a torrent of gunfire by a group of thugs as he stepped through the doors of a house party in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A female friend ran to his rescue and immediately called 911 for help, but what she got when the dispatcher picked up the emotional call wasn’t what she expected.
The unnamed girl spoke with 911 dispatcher Matthew Sanchez during this very intense call for help. “I’m keeping him alive!” she said with urgency, letting Sanchez know that Jaydon was barely breathing, after he asks about his condition. On the audio clip below, she can be heard talking to Chavez-Silver to keep taking breaths.
That’s when things went weird on the 911 call.
“One more breath! One more breath!” the friend says to her fatally wounded classmate. “There you go Jaydon. One more breath! There you go Jaydon. Good job! Just stay with me, OK? OK? There you go, good job Jaydon!”
Sanchez asks the young girl “Is he breathing?” You could tell she was frustrated at the repeat question and lack of action, and she lashed out at the dispatcher “He’s barely breathing, how many times do I have to f—ing tell you?”
To hear the rest of the conversation, listen to the 911 call:
Emergency services did arrive to the home, where Jaydon had been shot six times. He was rushed to the hospital, but by the time he got there it was too late. The 911 dispatcher has been placed on leave while his alleged misconduct is under investigation.
What do you think about this situation? What should be done with the dispatcher? Is it out of bounds to say he should face charges for hanging up? Share your views below in our comment section and add this story to your twitter/facebook timeline.
