Hillary Clinton, a former secretary of state and Democratic candidate for president, declared on Tuesday that she would not run for office again. When asked if she would ever run for president again by “CBS Evening News” anchor Norah O’Donnell, Clinton responded, “No, no.”
“But I’m going to do all I can to make sure that we elect a president who protects our institutions and respects our democracy and the rule of law,” Clinton said.
Clinton stated that the former President Trump would not fall under that description and that, should he decide to run again, “he should be soundly defeated.”
Clinton suggested that it should begin within the Republican Party. “Have some backbone. Go against this person.
Trump, who won the 2016 presidential election by defeating Clinton, has hinted that he will run again in 2024, and polls indicate he stands a decent chance of winning the Republican nomination.
According to Clinton, President Biden would be “the person most likely to win” if he decided to run for reelection in the same year, as he has frequently stated he intends to do.
“Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump in the popular vote by a large margin. In a conversation with NBC News anchor Yamiche Alcindor in late June, Clinton stated, “I believe that says a lot.
Clinton said on CBS that it is “very different” from the recent discovery of classified materials at Trump’s Florida home to compare her use of a private email server while serving as secretary of State to that incident.
Regarding her own run-in with the FBI and the current state of affairs with Trump, Clinton said, “I think it’s a really different comparison to what’s going on here.” She added that it “appears that the Justice Department and the FBI have been incredibly patient, quiet, careful until they finally apparently thought that national security was at stake.”
