A Colorado barbeque restaurant is under fire for wanting to celebrate ‘White Appreciation Day.’ Bomb threats, and heavy backlash resulted in his decision and over the weekend he changed his mind to include anyone who wanted the 10% discount.
Edgar Antillon OWNS the Rubbin’ Buttz BBQ restaurant in Milliken, Colorado. On Friday, KUSA TV reported that the restaurant would observe a “White Appreciation Day” on June 11 and offer Caucasian customers a 10 percent discount.
“We have a whole month for Black History Month,” Antillon told the outlet. “We have a whole month for Hispanic Heritage Month, so we thought the least we could do was offer one day to appreciate white Americans.”
I understand Antillon’s decision to do this and support him because it’s his business. If that’s what he wants to do then who can tell him he can’t do it. Many people won’t be happy and I would say a lot of them in my black community but then again you don’t see anyone shutting down black colleges, black history month or school trips for only black kids.
The backlash was swift. Antillon was criticized on social media and Yelp. According to the restaurant’s Facebook page, Rubbin’ Buttz even received a bomb threat.
I wouldn’t want to eat at a restaurant named Rubbin’ Buttz in the first place lol

I for one am tired of the fact that no one ever talks about the plight of white people in this country http://t.co/RuOmz6vGcN

Even though he insists the everyone is included, Antillon again defended the idea behind “White Appreciation Day.”
“We need to end the white guilt because they’re included in this American history and they should be included just like everybody else,” Antillon said.
