Cruz pulls an “Obama”; Tries to get fellow candidate kicked off ballot in this state

In 1996, Barack Obama effectively used election rules to eliminate his Democratic competition. He got three candidates kicked off the ballot leaving his name as the only choice. The move denied each of them, including incumbent Alice Palmer, a longtime Chicago activist, a place on the ballot. It cleared the way for Obama to run unopposed on the Democratic ticket in a heavily Democrat district.

Whoever is advising Cruz or the campaign is torpedoing the rest of his election changes, and sadly they think this benefits them. Cruz’s team was supposed to change him or, at least, change the perception the public has of DC politicians, and this is going the other way.

Maybe a new hashtag has arisen from the ashes – #AlternativeTed – tries another maneuver to “win” by any means, fair or foul.

From CBS News:

Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign is trying to knock opponent John Kasich off Montana’s primary by questioning signatures the Ohio governor’s campaign submitted to qualify for the ballot – another subplot in the unfolding political drama to derail Donald Trump’s presidential bid.

Emails obtained by The Associated Press show Cruz campaign officials have raised questions about the 622 signatures submitted by the Kasich campaign. A minimum of 500 valid signatures is required for a presidential candidate to qualify for the Montana ballot.

The Cruz campaign asserts Kasich’s petition contains signatures with invalid notaries, improper dates, mismatched phone numbers and illegible names, among other potential discrepancies.

“Because John Kasich’s campaign filed only 622 signatures, and the minimum number of signatures required under Montana law is 500, there is a reasonable probability that material defects with his petitions reduce the number of valid signatures below the required minimum,” the campaign said, “and John Kasich is therefore not eligible for placement on the ballot.”

It seems like Donald Trump is the only candidate willing to play by the rules, and he is winning. The power brokers of the Republican Party is going scorched earth and the American people are watching them implode, and I love it. They have betrayed me and many like me. That is the simple reason Trump is winning.
