Sometimes you wonder why people do things and then you have others that just don’t care about anything. Former GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz in Florida this morning and touted him as the only person that could beat Donald Trump for the Republican nomination.
Fiorina couldn’t find the seam in the voter’s fabric to create a precious coalition blanket so she dropped out of the race last month. This endorsement shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone as one of the Cruz SuperPAC’s donated to Fiorina’s campaign in June 2015.
From The Hill:
“Ted Cruz has always been a constitutional conservative,” Fiorina said, describing Cruz as “a fearless fighter and reformer.”
Fiorina ended her own White House bid in mid-February after a poor showing in early-voting states.
Her campaign was known for her harsh criticism of Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton.
“The truth is that Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are two sides of the same coin,” Fiorina said Wednesday, ripping the GOP front-runner.
“They aren’t going to reform the system. They are the system.”
Fiorina noted that many in the Republican Party are “horrified by Donald Trump.”
“I’m one of them,” she added, describing Cruz as “the only guy who can beat Donald Trump.”
There was a huge knock on Fiorina that she was not likeable and that’s why she never caught on. The same rumblings are said about Cruz and he is struggling to catch up to take the lead over Trump.
I mentioned earlier Fiorina owed it to Cruz to support him as his SuperPAC Keep The Promise I had donated to her campaign last year. It would have been awkward for her to endorse anyone else so this comes as no ground moving event for us.
“Keep the Promise I made the donation in June to Ms. Fiorina at that time because we thought she had important things to say that weren’t being heard, including her poignant and effective criticism of Mrs. Clinton, at the time, the likely Democratic nominee,” Kellyanne Conway, president of Keep the Promise I told CBS News in an email.
“However,” she added, “We are all in for Ted Cruz for President, as our current activities demonstrate, and will continue to support him and his message all the way to the White House.”
Congrats to Cruz for the Fiorina endorsement.
