Election 2014 Update 2/9

Election 2014 is underway and it is time for some updates. Changes they are a coming.

Wyoming: Liz Cheney drops her bid for the Senate, Much to the disappointment of the Huffington Post.

West Virginia: 3rd District congressman, Nick Rahall’s re-election bid a U.S. House seat is in peril. His record of support for cap-and-trade and climate change in a coal state must be taking it’s toll. Republican Evan Jenkins has the momentum and has a great chance to pick this seat up.

South Carolina: State Senator Lee Bright seems to be the strongest candidate looking to unseat Lindsey Graham, Lee has picked up a notable endorsement from U.S. Rep Steve Stockman(TX). Three other Republicans are running against Graham in the June primary: Easley businessman Richard Cash, Orangeburg attorney Bill Conner and Charleston PR executive Nancy Mace.

Virginia: There is a four person race underway to challenge Senator Mark Warner(D). Tony DeTora of Fredricksburg, a policy advisor for a California congressman. Shak Hill of Centreville, a retired Air Force pilot and financial consultant. Ed Gillespie of Alexandria, a communications consultant, former White House aide, and former chairman of the RNC. Chuck Moss of Nokesville, owner of a small network consulting business and who seems to be flying under the radar.
Also in Virginia, House majority leader Eric Cantor is facing a challenge by Dave Brat. Dave is slamming Cantor on his pro immigration stances.

Florida: The Democratic hopeful Charlie Crist just recieved a bit of a blow. A former fundraiser testified under oath that judicial nominations were for sale on Mr. Crist’s watch. That being said, most polls still show Crist beating Rick Scott. This week we learned Scott is considering backing in-state tuition for undocumented students. I smell pandering. Mr. Scott, talk about the jobs and business that moved to Florida or the budget that remains balanced. Read my previous articles if you have forgotten. It was your jobs message that got you elected the first time.

Massachusetts: The gay Republican Richard Tisei will challenge John Tierney to a rematch. Tisei narrowly lost to Tierney in 2012.

Texas: Too much attention is still being given to Wendy Davis. Davis has no chance here, keep your powder dry. I’m calling this race for Greg Abbott.

New York: I’m not buying the Trump hype. At this point if the Don decides to run he will likely lose to Cuomo.

Ohio: John Kasich stays put.

Wisconsin: Walker still walks to victory over Burke.

Georgia: The field of candidates to replace Saxby Chambliss is still a crowded one. Some of the lesser known candidates are starting to make waves. Derrick Grayson and Eugine Chin Yu seem to be garnering some attention. Rest assured, this seat remains red.

As for control of the Senate, the states to watch are N.C.,AK,LA.
