(Ret) Gen. David Petraeus is on his way to meet with President-Elect Donald Trump. Last week, I gave a quick opinion piece on the possibility of hiring Petraeus and how he was open to the idea of taking the Secretary of State cabinet post.
Trump is surrounding himself with powerhouses of late. His #AmericaFirst template is bringing in those Americans who love this country and want to watch it return to that #1 status that we grew up watching.
President-elect Donald Trump is seriously considering retired General David Petraeus to be secretary of state and plans to meet with the former CIA director Monday in New York, according to a senior official with the transition.
The celebrated four-star general who left government under a cloud for sharing classified documents during an extramarital affair is meeting with the president-elect amid infighting among Trump’s advisers about who to pick for the post.
Other candidates said to be under consideration include former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, who was harshly critical of Trump during the campaign, and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who was a top surrogate for Trump as he ran for the White House.
Kellyanne Conway, a senior adviser to Trump who was his campaign manager, has been publicly dismissive of Romney.
He would be a great asset to Trump administration. Trump should pardon Gen. Petraeus and rehire him first thing, along with all the other Generals and Admirals that have been fired.
