Good News! Gubernatorial Candidate Bruce Rauner Earns More Endorsements

WAAR DECISION DESK 2014Recently, 3 major newspapers endorsed Illinois gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner over Pat Quinn. On Friday, the Chicago Tribune and Crain’s Chicago Business made their announcement, while the Arlington Heights Daily Herald made their endorsement the week before.

The Chicago Tribune explained their confidence in Bruce.

“Our bottom line: Illinois must change direction. This state faces enormous financial and economic perils going forward. We know Quinn’s way — more tax money! — and that he simply can’t bend the powers that be in Springfield. We’d rather have a governor with Rauner’s outsider moxie.

For the broke, broken Illinois of 2014, Bruce Rauner is two challengers in one:

He’s challenging an incumbent who tried and came up short. He would challenge the power brokers who like Illinois just as it is. No wonder they loathe Rauner. He makes them sweat.

He deserves your vote.”

Other newspapers, such as the Northwest Herald showed support as well.

Gov. Pat Quinn has had more than five years to guide Illinois toward a brighter fiscal future.

Instead, his incompetent leadership and regressive policies have driven the state to the brink of financial collapse.

To that point: Illinois is bleeding jobs. State data released last month show there are 102,000 fewer Illinoisans in the workforce now than when Quinn, a Democrat, took office in 2009. That’s good for worst in the country. Illinois also is the only state in the Midwest in which food stamp enrollment has outpaced job creation – and by a 2-to-1 margin – since the Great Recession – again under Quinn’s watch.”

It should be noted that Bruce Rauner has bipartisan support from Independents and Democrats as well, and their explanation for backing him can be found on his campaign page. His wife happens to be a Democrat as well. With 3 weeks to go, we can surely hope that these recent newspaper endorsements and bipartisan support can pay off in the end.
