There have been calls in recent days from the GOP Establishment for Ted Cruz to apologize for calling Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell a liar last year. They were hoping he apologize before they unite behind his presidential candidacy, but it appears they won’t be getting their way.
James Rosen of Fox News reported on Wednesday that Cruz won’t go “on bended knee” for McConnell.

This doesn’t surprise me, and I am proud of him not caving into the demands of the Establishment. Besides, the question should not be “why won’t he apologize?” The real question is “why should he apologize?” What I love about Ted Cruz is that he isn’t afraid to confront anyone who isn’t being truthful, even if they are members of his own party. After all, he does say on a regular basis that the two things he always plans to do in Washington are telling the truth, and always do what he says he is going to do.
Plus, I believe this is a bluff. It is possible they want an apology just to intimidate and shame him. But we know the Establishment does not want to rally around Trump anyway, so their only realistic option at this point would be to support Cruz.
