Has Ted Cruz given up on Alabama? Pulls out of sold-out presidential forum

Sen. Ted Cruz has decided to back out from a presidential form that will be held on Saturday in the state of Alabama. Cruise is behind GOP front-runner Donald Trump, And Sen. Marco Rubio in that state which likely helped make his decision Super Tuesday rolls around.

In reading the statement from a political consultant, He was very direct and pointed at Cruz for missing out on this opportunity.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is bailing on Saturday’s Republican presidential candidate forum at Samford University, leaving one of his 2016 rivals, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, as the only candidate to take part in the discussion. Yellowhammer News, the organizer of the forum, said the sold-out event would still go on.

An unnamed political consultant who spoke to the Alabama news outlet said the next string of primary states on March 1, which includes Alabama and several other states in which has been dubbed the “SEC Primary,” could doom Cruz’s chances at the nomination.

If Cruz — the Texan, the staunch evangelical, the anti-Washington guy — can’t win in Alabama and across the South, he can’t win,” the consultant said. “I’ve seen polling in the last week that shows Cruz in third in Alabama, far behind Trump and behind Rubio, too. It might become apparent after March 1st that Cruz’s goose is cooked.”

Master Image, a consulting firm based in Birmingham, released a poll Tuesday showing front-runner Donald Trump well ahead of Rubio and Cruz in Alabama. The businessman has 36 percent of the vote in the Alabama primary. He is followed by Rubio at 19 percent and Cruz at 12 percent, according to the Daily Caller.

All signs point to Cruz reallocating his efforts to other states if this decision remains intact. Do you think this will hurt cruise in the south where most consultants and experts think he has a really good shot a winning or will it matter?
