O’Reilly has made this situation much worse than it initially was. I somewhat agree with the merit of his argument that he made. However, his choice of words were offensive. How can “the great” Bill O’Reilly not understand that? If he would have said that he should have used different words because his word choice was offensive, and that he still believes in the merit of his argument, then this would be over.
It was also shocking to hear how out of touch both O’Reilly and Megan Kelly were when they were discussing why people are outraged by his comments. It has absolutely nothing to do with trying to destroy his “popularity.” It has everything to do with the fact that he fallaciously claimed that all the other side does is “thump the bible.” Individuals who are for traditional marriage, who have argued this case in court, have not thumped the bible. They have made reasonable, secular arguments in their defense.
Both O’Reilly and Kelly chose to blatantly and purposefully ignore this. Especially Bill. What was even more offensive and pathetic was Bill allowing Goldberg to viscously attack christians. He did not challenge him on his statements of practically claiming that christians were bigots. O’Reilly also smirked when Goldberg practically yelled that he hopes the other side loses. Goldberg engages in so many fallacious arguments that it is ridiculous. This man creates and spreads the hate that he so “lovingly” tries to put an end to.
Newsflash to Goldberg: You are the one who is the bigot for what you said tonight. I suggest O’Reilly, and especially Goldberg, take a lesson from Charles Krauthammer. Krauthammer stated his argument the other night on the issue in a very respectful, intelligent, and praise-worthy way.[fbcomments]
