Chris Kyle is a true American hero to most of us, and the success of Clint Eastwood’s movie ‘American Sniper’ is evidence of that fact. There are some in Hollywood however, who are not happy about it.
Michael Moore, the ultra-hypocritical socialist and maker of movies no one wants to watch, tweeted his opinion of not just Chris Kyle but all snipers, calling them “cowards”. Moore apparently, is upset because his uncle was killed by a sniper in World War II. I wonder, if his uncle had been killed by a Communist, would his political views be any different?
Seth Rogen, the Canadian stoner and actor who has apparently played in some movies of some description, also found his way to Twitter to compare the movie with a Nazi propaganda film.
To my knowledge, neither of the two has contributed anything meaningful to society.
At first I was surprised by the attacks on Chris Kyle and the movie, until I started paying attention to other news coming out of Hollywood (something I rarely do). While ‘American Sniper’ is setting records for ticket sales, Oprah Winfrey’s latest movie ‘Selma’ is suffering at the box office and was snubbed by the Academy Awards. Although this only represents one bad weekend for Hollywood liberals, it comes on the heels of a string of rejections of their ideology by movie viewers.
While Hollywood has famously promoted themes that reject traditional family values and patriotism, movie viewers have increasingly turned away from those movies, embracing instead movies that reflect the faith and values of middle-America. Some movie producers have tried and failed to cash in on this trend by making flawed Bionically themed movies such as ‘Noah’ and ‘Exodus’ which failed to win over their target audience while viewers opted instead to see movies that promoted faith such as ‘Son of God‘ and ‘Heaven Is For Real‘ . Ticket sales this weekend serve to further illustrate that trend.
So why are the Hollywood leftists getting their panties in a wad over ‘Sniper’? I believe it’s because they have finally realized that their influence over our culture is waning. People aren’t just looking for movies about the Bible, they want to see movies that uplift faith. They aren’t just looking for war movies, they want to see movies that make them proud to be Americans. These are things most of Hollywood cannot comprehend, and therefore cannot produce.
The ability of the entertainment industry to shape people’s views has long been a valuable tool for the Left, and has provided those in the entertainment industry a sense of self-importance. Although this has been coming for some time now, people like Moore and Rogen are beginning to get anxious, and anxious liberals tend to lash out and attack the things they don’t understand. Perhaps this would be a good time for someone to make a movie about Hollywood, and title it ‘Desperately Seeking Relevance’.
