HS Principal slammed to ground breaking up school fight

Three of the students involved were arrested for on battery charges. According to the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department, two of the students are 15 years old and the other is 13 years old.

A student who witnessed the intense brawl in the school’s cafeteria captured the chaos on video. As students screamed and climbed on top of tables to watch, Principal Don Ross was tossed to the ground.

When Ross got back up, he grabbed the student from behind until an officer moved in to stop the fight.

The principal sent the following letter to parents on Monday:

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Today at approximately 11:30 a.m. during lunch, 10-12 students were involved in two separate, unrelated incidents that resulted in multiple altercations that took place in the Commons at Florin High School. School officials and law enforcement immediately responded to the incidents. The first incident involved 8-10 students and was a result of a dispute that occurred a week ago and which was relationship oriented. The second incident was an altercation between two students caused by an insult one student made to another student. All students will be disciplined.

Three school officials sustained minor injuries which required medical attention. The students involved in the altercation did not require medical attention. The incident was stabilized and classes have resumed.

The safety of our students and staff is a top priority at our school If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the school…

“That’s a disgrace to the school,” said a school alum who now coaches volleyball at the school. “Fights happened a lot, but not to that degree.”
