Governor Mike Huckabee has decided he can do two things, maybe not at the same time but it’s all good.
Huckabee spokesman Hogan Gidley said her candidate will still participate in Thursday’s undercard GOP debate but will head to the Trump event after. This is a win/win for Huck because be can debate and then show his support for wounded veterans.
There’s no downside to this announcement.
The former Arkansas governor will participate in the undercard debate before the event to benefit wounded warriors at Drake University in Des Moines.
The event — which Trump has suggested may attract other presidential candidates — follows a spat with Fox News that began Tuesday.
Trump had tweeted out a poll and accompanying Instagram video asking his followers if he should attend the debate (he’s threatened to pull out of debates before) and accused moderator Megyn Kelly of being biased against him.
Fox responded with a press release poking fun at the businessman and standing by its decision to keep Kelly on stage. During an interview with Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly on Wednesday night, the host was unable to convince Trump to change his mind.
Trump has since pulled out of the debate and suggested many viewers will tune in for his event which will be held at the same time as the debate.
This should be a great event as the Trump campaign said their event, being held at Drake University, sold out in two hours. Make sure your remote control batteries are new. It might be one of those nights.
