Is Cop’s Answer to “I Can’t Breathe” Shirts a Threat?

Since the death of Eric Garner, his final words; “I can’t breathe” have become the rallying cry of those who feel like they’re being oppressed by the police. It has been seen on Twitter as a hashtag, on shirts worn by NBA players and signs carried by protestors across the country.

One Indiana police officer was tired to seeing all the anti-police rhetoric, so he made a shirt in response. Some people weren’t entertained by the shirt, with one person even calling it a “a thinly veiled threat on the lives of petty lawbreakers.”

“Don’t break the law” seems like pretty good advice, right? While critics of the shirt claim that it’s making fun of Eric Garner’s struggle of not being able to breathe,  Jason Barthel wrote of his “Breathe Easy” shirts: “I just designed my own version of a shirt that is absolutely necessary right now.”

So what do you think? Is this shirt disgusting, or a necessary response to protestors around the country?
