John Roberts Has One Cat Too Many

John RobertsResearchers recently found that having cats can cause schizophrenia; I think Supreme Court Justice John Roberts must have one cat too many. In his dissenting opinion on same-sex marriage, Roberts correctly stated “This court is not a legislature. Whether same-sex marriage is a good idea should be of no concern to us. Under the Constitution, judges have power to say what the law is, not what it should be.”  This, just one day after Roberts signed into law a bill passed by the Judicial House of Congress appropriating funds to provide subsidies to states without Obamacare exchanges.

Perhaps we should take that statement and apply it to the case of King vs Burwell. “This court is not a legislature. Whether subsidies to states without state run exchanges are a good idea should be of no concern to us. Under the Constitution, judges have power to say what the law is, not what it should be.”

Is that statement any less true than it was before I changed the subject of the sentence? Roberts clearly applied a different standard in each of the two cases. We can put to rest any notion that Justice Roberts possesses any judicial integrity and put him squarely in the same class as Ginsberg.

boehner cryingWe can also put to rest any notion that what passes for Republican leadership in Congress is any more useful than mammary glands on a boar hog. “We’re going to rely on the Supreme Court stop Obamacare” the cowards told us.

The direction our country is headed will lead us to a place where liberty cannot exist, and our children, not our grandchildren, will be the first to be enslaved by the government that was established to protect their freedom. We cannot expect this President to turn it around, and it has long been clear that Congress will be of no help, and we can now be sure that the Supreme Court is of no use to us either.

Cruz at TribFestThe only hope for America is the American people. If we treasure our freedom, we must put a stop to this and the time to act is now. In 2016 we will choose to either continue on this path or turn it around. Electing a “moderate that can work with both sides of the aisle” is a vote to continue. What we need is a bold Conservative who those in Washington will say is “too extreme to get elected”.
