Today was a great day for the First Amendment and religious liberties. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of Hobby Lobby 5-4 that corporations were not obliged to cover contraceptives they found objectionable under Obamacare’s contraceptive mandate.
However, with the victory came a lot of angry and upset liberals and leftists sharing their outrage over the outcome with the most absurd reactions.
There were, in my mind, the three most absurd claims from the left that this ruling would result in:
3) Comparable to slavery
That’s right, they say slavery. Rachel Maddow ranted on her TV show said Segregationists like Maurice Bessinger would be pleased with Hobby Lobby’s court decision. Likewise, Terry O’Neill, president of National Organization For Women (NOW) compared yesterday’s ruling to apartheid, slavery, and Jim Crow laws. Not only is this being dishonest and a bunch of lies, but it is beyond despicable, especially knowing that Hobby Lobby already covered 16 of 20 different types of birth control before and after the Supreme Court decision.
2) A War On Women
This can’t be further from the truth! Hobby Lobby already covered birth control. It was only the remaining 4 out of 20 that were aborted related, which went against their deeply held pro-life beliefs against abortion. However, facts and logic don’t deter them from making the claim. Many were pointing out those in favor of Hobby Lobby were all men and that all the women justices were against Hobby Lobby. However, it has nothing to do with gender. All three women on the court are very liberal justices, so it is their politics and ideology that determined their decision, not their gender.
1) This is Sharia Law
Apparently, liberal logic says that offering ONLY 16 of 20 types of birth control is so comparable to beheadings, stoning, lashes, mutilations, and rape all considered legal under Sharia. Liberals making this comparison are the worst of the worst. They spit in the fact of actual victims of Sharia Law, and it is beyond disgraceful. One of these liberals was John Fugelsang, in which he tweeted yesterday’s ruling as ‘Scalia Law’ and said it is like Sharia Law. Unfortunately, he wasn’t the only one.
Despite all the hate from the left, yesterday’s ruling was a victory and a step in the right direction. It shouldn’t surprise us that they will throw everything they have towards us when things don’t go their way. As great yesterday was, we can never be too overconfident and now relax. Our fight for freedom, liberty, and getting our country back is far from over, and we need to wake people up from their apathy and lack of concern. I will always have a certain amount of optimism that we can bring our country back and hope many other patriots do as well.
