If you’ve been following the Rachel Dolezal story online, you may have seen the word “transracial” being thrown around and people saying choosing to be black is like Caitlyn Jenner choosing to be female. It’s unclear how much of it’s sincere and how much is just straight-up trolling, but MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry entertained the notion on her show today with kind of a huge question.
“But is it possible that she might actually be black? The best way that I know how to describe this and I want to be very careful here,” Harris-Perry said. “Because I don’t want to say it’s equivalent to the transgender experience.”
“But there is a useful language in trans and cis, which is to just to say some of us are born cis-gendered, some of us are born trans-gendered,” she added. “But I wonder can it be that one would be cis-black and trans-black, that there is actually a different category of blackness, about the achievement of blackness, despite one’s parentage?”
She’s mad! Totally off the map!
EVERYTHING is about race with Harris-Perry. It’s the only thing that makes her feel worthwhile. She’s a racist, with poor journalism skills, and is an academic poser. Her employment on MSNBC is justified by her race, not by her intelligence or knowledge of ANY specific topic. She, along with others, are the reason no one watches this racist news network.
