Why didn’t the producers correct Steve Harvey IMMEDIATELY when he made the mistake? Did they think twice about letting it slide?
I can not accept this is just live TV human error! When you have a card in your hand. All you have to do is read it, and you chose to read it incorrectly. Is it human error or is it intentional?
Did you hear Harvey even misspelled both countries when he tweeted out an apology to both contestants? These contestants take these pageants very seriously; they start from childhood. It’s there a way of getting famous and known in their countries.
According to the Associated Press:
The Miss Universe contestant from the Philippines is this year’s winner, but for one brief moment Sunday evening, it appeared as if it might be a repeat win for Colombia.
Colombia contestant Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo was already wearing the crown as this year’s Miss Universe winner when host Steve Harvey returned to apologize.
Harvey said it was his mistake and that he would take responsibility for not correctly reading the card, which said that contestant Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach of the Philippines was this year’s winner and Colombia was actually the first runner-up.
It took an eternity for the pageant organizer to have him come back out for the correction.
I guess whatever financial gain there might be on this rigged announcement will not be forth-coming. Steve Harvey’s credibility is done.
My prediction Steve Harvey WON’T be hosting it next year.
Harvey is so sure of himself, and no doubt is radio listeners will give him the OJ moment and forgive him. How will the world forgive this mistake? This was a big one. What are your thoughts?
