After the debacle in Arizona when Fox pollster Frank Luntz laid the foundation for GOP front-runner Donald Trump to respond to Luntz’s question interruption, things haven’t been so friendly between the two.
Today, Luntz went on a tirade to Politico about Trump’s bombastic “F- you” mentality and “the Donald” didn’t like it.
Luntz said that Trump and, in his own way, Bernie Sanders, were gaining appeal among voters because they were “delivering a big ‘F you’ to the elites in America.” From there, however, Luntz said that Trump was riding on the fears of voters without providing solutions.
“‘F- you’ doesn’t solve anything. ‘F- you’ doesn’t make life any better. ‘F- you’ makes you feel good, but it doesn’t get you where you need to go,” Luntz said. “‘F- you’ doesn’t make America strong. ‘F- you’ doesn’t solve anything.”
Trump, who is known for retaliating harder when hit, went after Luntz by saying the polling founder held a grudge against him because Trump refused to do business with him.
“I caught him cold,” Trump responded. “And frankly, if I was Roger Ailes, I’d fire that guy so fast for what he did that his head would spin.”
According to the Politico, Luntz was asked about his private comments, he declined to directly address what he said at the donor confab, though he did not back away from the substance of his critique.
