BALTIMORE, MD - APRIL 25: Protesters clash with police during a march in honor of Freddie Gray on April 25, 2015 in Baltimore, Maryland. Gray, 25, was arrested for possessing a switch blade knife outside the Gilmor Homes housing project on Baltimore's west side on April 12. According to his attorney, Gray died a week later in the hospital from a severe spinal cord injury he received while in police custody. (Photo by Alex Wong/Getty Images)

Obama’s America – A Spike in Crime and Fewer Arrests in Baltimore

It seems that Baltimore mayor, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has a real knack for doing her job. In the days following the death of Freddie Gray, she announced that she “gave those who wish to destroy space.” So, rioters burned and looted the city. She later tried to backpedal when her comments hit mainstream media. She and her good friend Maryland State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby have worked tirelessly to convict the officers involved before they even go to trial. The six police officers involved in the arrest of Freddie Gray have now been indicted by a grand jury so prosecution of their cases can move forward.

The death of Freddie Gray has once again caused the race-baiters to crawl out of their sewers to take advantage of another unfortunate situation, even though three of the six officers are black. It illustrates that this is a war against law enforcement, and has nothing to do with race. Now we find there has been a spike in violent crime and a drop in arrests in Baltimore since the riots. While the year had started off with an increase, post-riot violence has increased sharply. There have been 100 homicides in Baltimore, over the 71 at this time last year, and a 70 percent increase in nonfatal shootings, so far this year.

The mayor has said that while it is extremely frustrating and disheartening, there have been spikes in crime before which have been reversed, and she feels confident that this one will as well. I am not so sure about that. How are police officers supposed to do their jobs effectively when they are not supported by the mayor’s office? They have everyone just itching for a reason to cry “police brutality.” The Obama administration, Department of Justice, and race-baiting waste heaps like Al Sharpton have made it nearly impossible for these men and women to serve and protect without fear of becoming a household name.
