Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the West of playing a “double game” with “terrorist” groups in Syria, where Moscow and a US-led coalition are conducting separate bombing campaigns
“It’s always difficult to play a double game: declaring a fight against terrorists while simultaneously trying to use some of them to arrange the pieces on the Middle East chess board in one’s own interests,” Putin said at a meeting of political scientists in Sochi known as the Valdai Club.
“It is impossible to prevail over terrorism if some of the terrorists are being used as a battering ram to overthrow undesirable regimes,” Putin said.
Putin holds the correct position in Syria though he probably will live to regret Russian involvement in the Middle East. Assad, though a typical tyrannic dictator is the better choice than what will replace him when he’s gone. The US government seems to be incapable of learning from its past mistakes.
The US has been playing these games, with the lives of real people, for decades. If a foreign government doesn’t bow down and kiss the feet of the “gods” in Washington, our State Department and CIA has no limits on what they will do to topple that government with the use of arming and funding minority opposition groups or direct military force.
Seems ISIS is the sole creation of the US government beginning with our support of Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan (where Russia was also battling the radical terrorists like Osama) and now with our arming of the “moderate” terrorists in Syria. Putin has the common sense to see they are all essentially in the same camp, just with different names, and all will not think twice of lopping off the heads of any infidels.
The only difference is the radical terrorists may enjoy using a dull sword requiring three or four chops while the good terrorists are “humane” enough to use a sharp sword and get it over quickly.
