Payback Time

IRSIt is turning into one long hot summer for the Obama administration. From chaos on the southern border, to the IRS scandal, to endless end runs around Congress and the rule of law. Americans, from all political stripes, are watching the implosions and asking, just exactly what is going on in Washington? Is it massive incompetence? An orchestrated agenda? A President who has basically checked out on the job? Or all of the above?

It is mostly the hard core political geeks who can remember what seems to have been an ominous warning from top White House adviser, Valerie Jarrett. Jarrett is certainly no stranger to anyone who has followed the career of President Obama, which began during his community organizing days in Chicago. She has been a top adviser and confidante, and her fierce loyalty to both Barack and Michelle is legendary.

Prior to the November 2012 election, Jarrett gave a sneak peek into Barack Obama’s second term. It is unclear where or to whom these words were uttered, but they seem to explain a lot.

“After we win this election, it is payback time. For those who supported us, there will be rewards, for the ones who opposed us, they will get what they deserve. There will be hell to pay. Congress won’t be a problem for us. With no election to worry about, we have two judges ready to go”.

Have we, in fact, arrived at payback time?

The “coincidences” started to pile up a mere six months after the 2012 election. In May of 2013, the taxpaying American public was introduced to everyone’s favorite tax collector, Lois Lerner. The line the administration initially tried to float was that the targeting of Tea Party and other Conservatives groups was just a few rogue agents out of the Cincinnati office. We now know that this is a scandal of the most epic proportions. The federal government, by way of the IRS (possibly the most powerful government agency in the nation) targeted average American citizens who did nothing more than disagree with the Obama administration.

The military is another entity whose members are often at odds with a President who does not seem to care about the part of his job that makes him Commander In Chief. Conditions at the nation’s VA hospital facilities have been front and center. Long wait times, secret waiting lists, and veterans dying while waiting to be seen by a physician have all been uncovered by whistleblowers. They could no longer keep silent about how our veterans, the men and women who put their lives on the line for our country, were treated by their own government.

When you look at the last part of Jarrett’s statement, her words are almost prophetic. “…Congress won’t be a problem for us…” The President has made it an almost daily habit of bypassing Congress, all in an effort to push through his agenda before a possible takeover of the Senate by Republicans after the November mid-term elections. Even Democrat members of Congress have expressed concern over countless executive orders signed by the President who has vowed to go it alone and “act on my own when Congress will not.”

Add to this the constant attacks on Fox News and other conservative commentators by Obama and members of his administration, and a pattern of “getting what they deserve” being dished out to opponents and critics of the President becomes very apparent. This must be “the Chicago way” we have all heard so much about.

So how many more Obama opponents can we add to the punishment list? It is hard to say as the scandals continue to mount. One thing is for sure; Valerie Jarrett will be making a list and checking it twice to make sure those who have it coming have hell to pay.

About Becky Noble

My name is Becky Noble. I am married to Randy. No kids, just a 50lb Border Collie mix who thinks my house is hers! After almost thirty years in the healthcare field, it is time to move on, and do something different. I hope to have a career in politics.
