This is UTTERLY diabolical. What a STUPID needless act of IDIOCY on the part of the Police here. The three services are on the SAME SIDE to help and serve the public. I don’t CARE what justification the officer felt he had – he was wrong, and went about his duties with a severe lack of discretion. At the very worst, he should have approached the senior fire officer present and ASKED – not ‘TOLD’ – if he could possibly just move the fire appliance to a safer location – if indeed it was EVER in a dangerous position in the first place!!
This officer clearly has not understood the sensitivities of what the emergency services working TOGETHER in society does for people feeling safe.
I could almost picture him going one step further, stamping his feet on the ground like as though in a tantrum, throwing his pad and pen to the floor and with tears in his eyes shrieking out “..I’M IN CHARGE..!!!!”
