I came across this the other day as it was one of those “This Day in History” items. So being naturally drawn to these things I took a gander at the item. Wow was I taken aback by the words I was reading. For a moment I thought it was written within the past 6 years it was so much on the money with what is happening here in the United States of America.
So I’ll post the prose and let you try to figure out who wrote it. Now you history buffs no cheating, let the others figure it out on their own.
At the present moment in world history nearly every nation must choose between alternative ways of life. The choice is too often not a free one.
One way of life is based upon the will of the majority, and is distinguished by free institutions, representative government, free elections, guarantees of individual liberty, freedom of speech and religion, and freedom from political oppression.
The second way of life is based upon the will of a minority forcibly imposed upon the majority. It relies upon terror and oppression, a controlled press and radio, fixed elections, and the suppression of personal freedoms.
I believe that it must be the policy of the United States to support free Peoples who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by outside pressures. . . .
The seeds of totalitarian regimes are nurtured by misery and want. They spread and grow in the evil soil of poverty and strife. They reach their full growth when the hope of a people for a better life has died. We must keep that hope alive.
The free Peoples of the world look to us for support in maintaining their freedoms.
If we falter in our leadership, we may endanger the peace of the world—and we shall surely endanger the welfare of our own nation.
Now lets take a look at some of these statements.
“One way of life is based upon the will of the majority, and is distinguished by free institutions, representative government, free elections, guarantees of individual liberty, freedom of speech and religion, and freedom from political oppression.”
Sounds very much on the ideas that the United States of America was founded upon. The will of the majority and freedom and inalienable rights of liberty, speech, religion, a political freedoms.
Lately here in our Nation the will of the majority of its people have been suppressed forcibly by a minority which uses oppression in the form of intimidation and regulation to force its will upon the majority. Can you think of a recent event that meets this criteria. How about Obamacare or the ACA as it is also known by its supporters. The majority of the Nation’s people were satisfied with the healthcare insurance they carried prior to the passage of Obamacare. But that did not stop a minority of Politicians (yes the Democrats had a majority in BOTH houses of Congress but 435 people changed the lives of every American in 2009). NO that is not correct either NO Republicans in Congress voted for Obamacare so 315 Democrats changed the lives of every American and they did it on Christmas Eve 2009, that is how important it was to this minority. Why? Control of the American people and 1/6 of the U.S. economy. They had no plans to fix the Healthcare Insurance industry and as we can now see these 4 years since, they will never fix the system they took control of…never.
“The seeds of totalitarian regimes are nurtured by misery and want. They spread and grow in the evil soil of poverty and strife. They reach their full growth when the hope of a people for a better life has died.”
Now we can see that poverty and strife in America are a part of everyday life for millions of Americans. The record number of people on Government assistance of some type is proof positive that the current Executive Administration is not willing to do anything to but nurture misery and thus create the want of the miserable to look towards the Government to save them. Their will to escape this downtrodden way of life is fading and soon hope for a better life will wither and die.
Very stark and dark picture I’ve painted here. This is how many in our Nation are feeling and trying to overcome. Most are just scraping by and trying to survive the next few years as there is no obvious plan to improve things economically or toward a cohesive national pride.
What were the words in the first statements intended to describe? What was the intent of their utterance? What was written was penned by President Harry Truman in a speech on March 12, 1947, which came to be known as the Truman Doctrine.
What was President Truman so distressed about that he was speaking before Congress? He was warning America and the World about the spread of Communism. Yes Communism, as the USSR was expanding its empire into Eastern Europe. They were entering Romania and Poland and were creating internal problems in Greece. And thus President Truman declared to Congress, the World and more importantly to the Russians that NO MORE! The USSR was to stop its expansion into Eastern Europe and the U.S. was going to do all it could to CONTAIN Russian expansion.
Have you turn on your multimedia devices lately and heard or saw anything that might resemble Russian expansion into another Nation lately? Does the nation called UKRAINE sound familiar to anyone?
Does the actions of the Obama Administration remind you of the behaviors that the Communists used to impose their will upon oppressed Peoples?
Have you heard any in the Democratic Party step up and champion liberty and freedom in recent memory?
Yes actions DO speak louder than words…Can you HEAR THEM NOW! It is NOT a sweet sound of liberty ringing throughout the land.
