South Carolina senator Tim Scott spoke at CPAC 2014 and he was fired up! He spoke this morning on the topic of education. Using examples of his own education struggles, senator Scott said, “I failed civics: I used to think I was the only one, then I became a member of the Senate and I realized there might be a few more,”
Scott mentioned a mentor, a Chik-fil-A manager that made a difference in his life and taught him that “you can think your way out of poverty. If you really want to escape poverty, it comes through the power of education.”
Scott also focused on his belief that parents should control their children’s education, saying that “When the parents have a choice, the kids have a chance.”
