Chris Matthews was clearly a Hillary Clinton supporter. His anger here is that she ran an unsuccessful campaign and he is pointing out things that she should have done differently. Hindsight in some cases, but that is where his anger stems from. He was furious that Trump was actually going to win.
Tackling Rachel Maddow was the icing on the cake because Matthews went against the grain, almost like evil vs evil when he recognized what was important to Americans and basically stated that Hillary didn’t have a clue and Trump did.
You will find yourself agreeing with Matthews on this one by the end of the video:
Chris earned my respect here for “this segment only.” He’s obviously a lefty, but he felt obligated to explain the support for Trump starting with the assumption that his supporters are everyday normal Americans; the rest of the panel wants to explain the support for Trump starting with the assumption that his supporters are horrible racists, or at the very least, Trump appealed to their “darker nature”.
I prefer the people giving me the news to not make sweeping negative moral judgments on the American people.
