It may surprise our readers to discover I was a screaming lib in college. Perhaps not considering the familiar saying, ‘If you’re not liberal when you’re young, you have no heart. If you’re not conservative when you’re older, you have no brain.”
In my youth I spent time supporting a woman’s right to choose, a.k.a. abortion, attending antiapartheid rallies and being deathly afraid the world would be covered in glaciers if nothing was done to protect the environment within 10 years.
Fast forward 20 years, and alas NO GLACIERS! Except for the Northeastern environmentalists currently living through Blizzard 2014, Global Cooling is a thing of the past. Global Warming is the new Global Cooling! Or as Conservatives and thinking people everywhere call it, the natural fluctuation of global temperatures.
I state the above to illustrate the absurdity of the left, but also to point out how they use ‘environmentalism’ and various causes to move forward radical changes under the noses of the American people with hardly a peep from #WeThePeople.
Yesterday, the State Department released the Climate Action Report in which Secretary of State John Kerry writes,
“Climate change is one of the most urgent and profoundly complex challenges we face. That’s why, everywhere I travel as Secretary of State – in every meeting, here at home and across the more than 280,000 miles I’ve traveled since I raised my hand and took the oath to serve in this office – I have made this issue a top priority.”
Really John, I bet the almost 8% of Americans who are unable to find work in the US can think of a few more pressing issues. As is usual, I digress.
Kerry ignores many scientists and groups such as NIPCC, while managing to belittle anyone who dares to disagree with he and the Obama administration when he states unequivocally,
ALL scientific evidence is telling us that we cannot afford to delay the reckoning with climate change. With each passing day, the case grows more compelling and the costs of inaction grow beyond anything that anyone with conscience or common sense should be willing to contemplate. (nice insult windsurfer bag)
My response to Mr. Kerry etal.
So we are clear, which climate change can we not afford to ignore? Is it the Global Cooling hysteria from the 90’s or the crisis of the day, Global Warming?
When you say ALL scientific evidence is telling us we must act, do you mean all, all? Or is there a liberal alternative dictionary where the word all no longer means the entire group and includes room for those who disagree with your climate theory? Groups and scientists such as such as NIPCC who do not fall in line with the global warming ‘consensus.’
While were on the subject, the compelling ‘case’ of the costs of inaction to which you refer, who exactly is providing the evidence for such a compelling case? Perhaps the scientists who altered global warming findings in order that their studies would meet the results necessary to press forward with environmentalist agenda?
According to CNS News, the Obama administration has already spent $7.45 billion of tax payer funds to ‘help’ other nations ‘deal’ with climate change. And the spending has only just begun. The State Department’s Climate Action Report promises the “United States is prepared to work with other countries toward a goal of jointly mobilizing $100 billion a year by 2020 to address the climate change needs of developing countries.”
$100 billion per year going from developed to undeveloped nations under the guise of a global warming ‘crisis’ that was a global cooling crisis 20 years ago and is based on ‘evidence’ provided by ‘ALL’ scientists. No thanks, I’ll pass.
