Wow! Mitch McConnell’s appearance at CPAC was a shocker in and of itself. After all, last time I checked CPAC still stands for CONSERVATIVE Political Action Conference. I digress. But sing-a-long Mitch showed up and in what seemed to be a shoddy attempt to ‘fit in’ with the conservatives in the room, presented Sen. Tom Coburn with a black powder rifle. This is the same Mitch that allowed the Senate vote on gun control to be brought to the floor during the anti-2nd amendment movement 12 months ago.
The symbolism attached to the rifle that was presented to Sen. Coburn is the harken back to our nations founders and the values they built this nation on. The problem with McConnell presenting this gift is many-fold, but what bothers me most is that his track record on the second amendment doesn’t resemble the nations founders. Why? He sits idly by as one of the representatives in charge while our constitutional rights are being compromised and then makes stupid excuses when conservatives are rightly outraged.
A Royal flush is needed in DC and you can do it. All Americans need to make it their personal mission to educate their family and friends. Try to get them to understand the difference between a voting lever and a toilet handle. Please!
You are a part of the problem, Mitch. You don’t fool us, we are not stupid!
Like a lot of the old dogs in elected office, they have outlived their time and don’t want to come to terms with it. They stay around Washington D.C., pretending to fight for the people when in reality, they are only fighting for themselves. There is a new Republican party emerging and the old dogs had best be on board with it.
