ST. LOUIS — A suspect has died after an officer-involved shooting in south St. Louis city.
It happened around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 4100 block of Minnesota.
St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department Chief Sam Dotson says a suspect was running from officers on foot. When the officers caught up with the suspect, a struggle ensued and the suspect produced a handgun.
Police say the suspect pointed the gun at the officers and that’s when an officer fired at him.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the hospital.
A Springfield Armory 45 caliber gun was recovered at the scene. Police say the gun was reported stolen from Alabama in May 2013.
We are told no officers were injured in the shooting.
