It was one of the most devastating fight knockouts I’ve ever seen, and because it was two women fighting made it more unbearable to watch UFC’s former Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey take a foot to the face before being laid out for the loss.
Rousey joined The Ellen Show on Monday to talk about that fateful day and for the first time publicly, let down her guard and showed emotion about how she felt after losing the championship fight.
“Honestly, my thought I was like, in the medical room and I was down in the corner. I was sitting in the corner like, What am I anymore if I’m not this? And I was literally sitting there and thinking about killing myself and that exact second.”
“I’m like I’m nothing … what do I do anymore and no one gives a sh*t about me anymore without this.”
So, how did she pull herself out of that dark place?
“To be honest I looked up and I saw my man [UFC fighter Travis Browne] was standing up there and I looked up at him and I was like, I need to have his babies I need to stay alive. Really that was it.”
It’s not just about how you win but how you lose which will show your true character.
