This Pastor says stealing from Walmart is understandable and here’s why

If your children are stealing from Walmart and getting charged with committing a crime, it’s not because they did something illegal. It’s because Walmart is wasting money with charges of theft and communities are engaged in over-policing.

Sounds absurd, right? That’s because it is.

But according to the Relations Director for the University of Wisconsin, this should be the new policy.

Everett D. Mitchell is the Director of Community Relations at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is also an attorney, pastor, and community leader. At a recent panel discussing “Best Policing Practices,” Mitchell said that police should stop prosecuting individuals who shoplift from Wal-Mart and Target.

His reasoning? He simply does not believe that police have any justification to engage in policing practices with thieves who steal from Wal-Mart or Target because they are big box stores with insurance.

You read that right. And below is the segment of his speech where he says it. Tax dollars hard at work and all…
