Thoughts From The Ground in North St. Louis County

Ferguson RiotsThe Grand Jury decision was announced about 90 minutes ago. As I sit in my living room, the faint sound of helicopters can be heard. On my TV, tear gas is being shot into the air by police, or National Guard, not quite sure who. As I write this I wonder, what next? What happens now? The whole nation can see the behavior of my city, and it is not pretty. Where does Ferguson, and for that matter, St. Louis go to get its reputation back? Does it ever?

I have lived a stone’s throw away from this circus for three months now. I have watched as small business owners attempt again and again to replace windows and repair their shops only to have them destroyed again, in the name of justice. I have watched a sick and twisted local and national media salivate at the thought of race riots, not giving a damn about the residents it might affect. It is all about ratings, you know.

There are plenty of people not even from this area who have a lot of blood on their hands if this goes south. There are the usual suspects of course, primarily Al Sharpton. I refuse to use the term “Reverend” because no man of God would hold the kind of rabid hatred for his fellow-man that Al Sharpton does. He profits handsomely from inciting looting, rioting and general mayhem. He is to blame for the destruction of my community.

Uneducated, uninformed citizens who can only see that if you look like them, you must be innocent. Maybe if and when those citizens can face, then deal with their own racism, we will make some progress. The blood in the streets also belongs to them. Let’s not forget a grieving family. True, in the words of St. Louis Prosecuting Attorney Bob McCullough, no young man should be shot by a police officer.

But what about this family? There is no doubt that some new clothes, new hair, new nails, and another trip to Europe for Mom will make the grieving process a bit easier to endure. Then there is that pending assault charge on Grandma to contend with, too. Or is that “to”? Michael Brown Sr. was in a bar over the weekend where the bouncer was shot and killed. Why does violence seem to follow this family everywhere they go?

Perhaps the most grievous offender is Barack Obama. With a wink and a nod he implores protesters to be calm, but wasn’t he front and center with his pal Eric Holder in the beginning practically endorsing violence? As the leader of our nation, he has no business injecting himself into local cases, but there he is again! He also has bloody palms.

Well, it seems as if the president has given the green light for the start of the Christmas shopping/looting season. As of right now, a cell phone store and convenience mart are the first targets. Time for free stuff! Could it be they were hoping for this as an excuse to “shop”?

I am angry and I plan on being that way for a long time. My city is being destroyed by thugs and all anyone can do is stand in front of it and report on it. Guess I will just have to duck when the Molotov cocktails start flying.

About Becky Noble

My name is Becky Noble. I am married to Randy. No kids, just a 50lb Border Collie mix who thinks my house is hers! After almost thirty years in the healthcare field, it is time to move on, and do something different. I hope to have a career in politics. Don't know whether that will continue to be writing and hosting "Conservative Cauldron Radio" on WAARadio on Fridays, or perhaps one day running for office. I am excited to pursue a new path!
