Toddler left alive in car after tragedy took her parents

Georgia police found a 3-year-old toddler alive in the backseat of a car last Thursday. The girl’s parents were also dead in their car.

According to Fox Carolina, Police responded to a call reporting a single car crash just before 2 am last Thursday but arrived to find a young married couple dead from gunshot wounds. Anthony Costner, 24, was shot in the head, face and hand, while his wife, Catherine Costner, 22, suffered a single gunshot wound to the stomach. Catherine was rushed to the hospital but died a short time later, according to 11Alive.

Catherine Costner’s mother, Cynthia Quinn, said the couple was out so late because they were responding to a call for help from someone in the middle of the night. Quinn now believes that the couple was lured out of their home to be murdered.

“I think someone had it in for her husband for some reason,” Cynthia Quinn said. “God bless the baby wasn’t hurt.”

Police found the couple’s toddler unharmed in the backseat. Powder Springs Police are currently investigating the shootings. Deputy Police Chief Matt Boyd has not ruled out a murder-suicide.

“We are trying to establish anything that will become a lead…whether that is video, talking to any witnesses, so anything we can do we are looking into,” Boyd said.

Quinn is now asking for anyone with information to come forward and help police.

“I know somebody knows something,” Quinn said.  “We just want this person brought to justice.”
