I can tell you exactly what happened that forced Sen. Ted Cruz to blame Donald Trump for the National Enquirer story, he panicked. There’s no other way to explain the struggling Texas candidate going public with unconfirmed information to blame it on another candidate who had nothing to gain by cozying up the tabloid magazine to release the scandal.
Trump had nothing to gain from this and Cruz had everything to lose. I have yet to give my opinion about the alleged scandal because the facts are not all there, however, I did know about this months back and knew something was going to be released, that’s what you get working with investigative journalists behind the scenes but when Trump said he had nothing to do with it, believe him.
“I had nothing to do with it,” Trump said on ABC’s “This Week. “The campaign had absolutely nothing to do with it.
“He’s got a problem with The National Enquirer. I have no control over The National Enquirer. I didn’t even know about the story. I just got it last night. Somebody sent it to me over to read, so I could at least see what it said.”
Trump said it was “disgraceful” that Cruz would say the billionaire had anything to do with it.
“I don’t care. I’m really, I don’t care. The National Enquirer did a story. It was their story. It wasn’t my story. It was about Ted Cruz. I have no idea whether it was right or not. They actually have a very good record of being right. But I have absolutely no idea,” he said.
“Frankly, I said, I hope it’s not right.”
