Wayne Dupree calls for a ‘civil war’ within the media

While speaking with Scottie Nell Hughes of the Tea Party News Network during the “Defending the American Dream Summit” in Dallas over the weekend, Wayne Dupree, CEO & Founder at WAAR Media Group, called for a “civil war” within the media because the “old guard has been getting it wrong for a long time.”

The topic of discussion was the media response to the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. Dupree noted that he is not referring to Michael Brown and the circumstances surrounding his death, but the irresponsible response by the mainstream media and their progressive allies. In fact, Dupree alleged, those seeking to push a narrative actually created a story before a proper investigation could take place.

I’m talking about the media, and the poverty pimps, and the dependency pushers that went down there to make it into a story.

Many journalists did not simply “cover the story,” he continued, but became the story, while turning a local story into national news. Indeed, many have questioned why the shooting of Michael Brown received national coverage in the first place. Surely the riots that took place – by mainly outsiders – played a part in the story gaining national attention. The widespread looting and vandalism, however, quickly became a secondary aspect to the coverage. And riots, even if a death occurs, do not necessarily garner national attention.

Another strange and frightening narrative that has been pushed by the mainstream media and their progressive allies in the case of Ferguson is that police officers are “racist.” This unsubstantiated claim serves to create further tension and distrust against police officers. Yet, many have picked up the false premise, including the United Nations and even Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader.

Consider that every single day across America, police officers are injured and even killed on the job. But those stories rarely make it past the local media.

Dupree surely echoed the sentiments of many Americans when he said,

Actually I think there needs to be a civil war because the old guard has been getting it wrong for a long time and now it’s time for us [the new media]…
