In stark contrast to the media narrative of universal condemnation of former Richland County Deputy Ben Fields, the students at Spring Valley High School staged a protest and walked out of class to show their support.
Richland County Deputy Ben Fields was fired from his job after a video of his encounter with an uncooperative student went viral. Immediately after the video hit the web, Americans were divided, with some calling the officers actions “brutality” and others saying the officer did what he had to after the girl punched him.
During Friday’s school day, students made their view on the subject clear, with hundreds of students staging a walkout – many of them wearing shirts that said #BringBackFields or chanting “Free Fields.”
“We’ve heard your voices, okay,” Principal Jeff Temoney said. “We appreciate you taking time to do this, but again, as you know, we always focus on teaching and learning, so let’s head on back to class.”

These kids know better than angry parents who just want to start race baiting. I salute these kids!
