What a ridiculous awarding! I can’t believe the stupidity we keep seeing on a regular basis in the place we call the United States of America.
Colin Kaepernick was awarded the team’s “Inspirational Award,” but what in the hell has he done that was inspirational?
I’m sorry – there is NO WAY I could come into my office at work and start a political debate and get an award for it. Many employers will reprimand or even terminate an employee for wearing a company logo and participate in a political issue in public. NFL players need to treat the field the way anyone else treats their office or workspace. You also should not bite the hand that feeds you. I understand freedom of speech, however, if I started mouthing off at someone at work who was a client and just said it was my freedom of speech, I would either be fired, or the client would be so turned off they would say they are taking their business elsewhere.
From Fox News:
Former Washington Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann had some strong words for a current NFL quarterback who dominated headlines this season: Colin Kaepernick.
Appearing Tuesday on “Outnumbered,” Theismann called out the San Francisco 49ers for awarding the team’s most prestigious honor to Kaepernick, who sparked controversy this season by refusing to stand for the national anthem.
On Friday, Kaepernick won the Len Eshmont Award, given to the “49er who best exemplifies the inspirational and courageous play of Len Eshmont, an original member of the 1946 49ers team.”
“You’re a 2-14 football team; he’s won one football game. What has he inspired?” Theismann said.
Theismann said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has been “wishy-washy” on this subject and he would like to see the league adopt a policy similar to the NBA in which all players are required to stand for the national anthem.
“I don’t agree with what he’s done,” Theismann said. “As a matter of fact, the American flag…stands for the right to be able to do the things you wanna do, to be able to stand up and have a difference of opinion. I agree with that part of it, but not when you’re on the job.”
I agree with Joe! What did he do that was “inspirational and courageous”? Did he run into a burning building and carry people to safety? No! Did he subdue a man with a gun holding hostages? No! He Dishonored the Country where he lives and makes millions of dollars to play a game by kneeling through Our National Anthem! He should get the Shame Award instead.
I guess being a complete sissy boy who disrespects my flag, the people who have given their lives for that flag, I suppose he deserves an award, but this isn’t the award he deserves.
First off, he showed every child in this country just how to show disrespect for the United States Flag, great job! Then he showed disrespect to those who gave their all in defense of that flag, again nice job! As for leading, he failed, and his team showed it week in and week out.
This entire football season has been a disappointment for many because of his actions, not inspiration. The 49ers got it wrong!
