Don Blankenship wants to make West Virginia great again, and he feels he got a bad rap when Barack Obama was in office, so he’s making huge political waves.
Blankenship feels he’s the only one who can beat Sen. Joe Manchin, and he has a plan to get it done, but it could hurt the state’s Republican Party in the process. He’s going to run as an independent, and while that might make some happy, it throws a wrench into the establishment choice.

He’s got a couple of hurdles to get past, and one of them is called the “sore loser” law.
West Virginia coal baron and former prisoner Don Blankenship announced on Monday that he plans to launch a long-shot third-party Senate bid after finishing a distant third in this month’s Republican primary.
Blankenship said he would run in the general election as the Constitution Party nominee. But he would need to overcome a “sore loser” law in West Virginia that prevents failed candidates in a main-party primary from refiling to run in the general election under another party’s banner.
Blankenship said he’s prepared to challenge that law in court if needed. If he’s successful, his move that could hurt the GOP’s prospects of unseating Democratic incumbent Joe Manchin in November.
“It is especially appropriate for me to be nominated by the Constitution Party given its staunch and uncompromising commitment to upholding the United States Constitution,” Blankenship said.

This is what he said
“The press & the establishment have colluded & lied to convince the public that I am a moron, a bigot & a felon.”🤣

Blankenship does not like Manchin. He wants to beat him in the worst way, but right now, he won’t find a lot of supporters on the Republican side who will view him as a traitor to the Republican Party and only thinking only of himself.
I’ve been in West Virginia many times, and I know the politics there, and Blankenship is a son of the state, but Obama did him evil service by having him jailed for a year on a framed up misdemeanor. It’s a story many do not know, understand or care about on a national level and only Blankenship can explain it better than anyone, but he’s going to have to wake up voters quickly if allowed to continue his third-party run.
I’m not sure he can do it in time.
