President Donald Trump early on Saturday morning ripped into Mitt Romney, the failed 2012 GOP presidential candidate and current senator from Utah, for the remarks Romney made the other day against the president.
“Somebody please wake up Mitt Romney and tell him that my conversation with the Ukrainian President was a congenial and very appropriate one, and my statement on China pertained to corruption, not politics,” tweeted the president.
“If Mitt worked this hard on Obama, he could have won.”
“Sadly, he choked!” added Trump.
See his tweet below on this.
Then, shortly after that, Trump sent out another tweet about the issue.
“Mitt Romney never knew how to win,” he said. “He is a pompous ‘a**’ who has been fighting me from the beginning, except when he begged me for my endorsement for his Senate run (I gave it to him), and when he begged me to be secretary of State (I didn’t give it to him).”
“He is so bad for R’s!” finished Trump.
Here’s that tweet:
Is it any wonder the president is angry?
Romney — elected a Utah senator in the 2018 midterms — (R-Utah) — was never fully and truly behind Trump. And on Friday he took to Twitter to slam the president for calling on China and Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden for his Ukraine-connected activities.
That rebuke came a day after Trump told reporters outside the White House that both those nations should look into Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, for actions they’ve taken in and connected to those countries that the president believes are corrupt.
“China should start an investigation into the Bidens,” Trump said on live television on Thursday.
Romney — the former Massachusetts governor who lost to Barack Obama in 2012 — fired back at Trump by calling this move “wrong and appalling.”
“When the only American citizen President Trump singles out for China’s investigation is his political opponent in the midst of the Democratic nomination process, it strains credulity to suggest that it is anything other than politically motivated,” Romney said in a statement.
He also also posted it to Twitter.
“By all appearances, the president’s brazen and unprecedented appeal to China and to Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden is wrong and appalling,” he also said.

Trump, however, is standing firmly by his actions when it comes to the Bidens.
“As President I have an obligation to end CORRUPTION, even if that means requesting the help of a foreign country or countries. It is done all the time,” Trump tweeted on Friday.
“This has NOTHING to do with politics or a political campaign against the Bidens.”
“This does have to do with their corruption!”
Unfortunately for Romney, these tweets have quickly come back to bite him.
Conservatives have responded by bashing him for criticizing President Trump.

Today I’m reminded of how fortunate we are not to have Corker and Flake in the Senate. We only have to endure Romney’s self-righteous blather, and sometimes Sasse’s: https://t.co/SESA2QqiM1

There are so many corrupt politicians it’s crazy …The President is doing the right thing ..he’s draining the swamp and people in congress don’t like it on both sides …

Romney has firmly established himself as one of the biggest Never-Trump Republicans in Congress.
This elected lawmaker, it seems, has let his hatred for Trump consume him — and he’s turned on his own party.
