The parents of Ethan Crumbley, the suspect in the Michigan school shooting, each entered a not guilty plea to involuntary manslaughter charges on Saturday morning, after being hauled into custody in the early hours of the morning.
Honestly, I am stunned that they are pleading not guilty after running from the law. They were fugitives.
In the aftermath of a lengthy manhunt for the pair, who had failed to appear in court for their arraignment on Friday, James and Jennifer Crumbley were caught.
According to authorities, the couple each faces four counts of involuntary manslaughter in connection with Tuesday’s tragedy at Oxford High School because they refused to remove their son from school after staff said he displayed warning signs of violence and needed counseling, according to the authorities.
If these so-called parents are proved to be culpable in a court of law, they should be investigated carefully and prosecuted if necessary. We must not rush to judgment, or we may be shown to be just as guilty as the WOKErs, who declare they are guilty until proven innocent. Moreover, if the school system advised to the parents that this seeming insane adolescent be removed from school, but the parents refused, why did the school system not suspend the child? If you ask me, that makes them just as culpable as their children.
Judge Julie Nicholson of the Oakland County District Court ordered that the Crumbleys be held on a $500,000 bail each, citing a worry about a potential “flight risk.”
Jennifer Crumbley could be seen and seen sobbing as the judge read the allegations against her and she entered her not guilty plea, which was recorded on video.
Ethan Crumbley, 15, was taken into custody after he reportedly opened fire on a school bus, killing four pupils and injuring seven others, according to authorities.
The reduction in conventional parenting is a contributing factor to the increase in school shootings. Parents used to teach strong American values in their children, such as accountability, responsibility, respect, appreciation, manners, kindness, compassion, dignity, consequences, honesty, and so on. Today, parents do not instill such values in their children. These ideals, on the other hand, have not been coached, mentored, or taught to children by their parents very regularly during the previous 20 to 35 years. As a result, American society as we previously knew it has undergone significant transformation – and not for the better. Furthermore, there is no connection between these shootings and gun legislation, or the lack thereof.
Following an hours-long search in Michigan on Friday, which included offers of $10,000 rewards each from the United States Marshals Service for their capture, law enforcement officers located the parents in Detroit, where they were reportedly hiding in an art studio after leaving their car in the building’s parking lot.
After spotting the suspects’ automobile and witnessing a woman running away from it, a shop owner contacted 911 to report the incident. Images of the automobile and the pair have been published in several publications.
The pair was unarmed and was taken into jail without incident, according to Detroit police Chief James White, who spoke to media during an overnight press conference on Tuesday. During their detention, he stated that they seemed “distressed.” They will very certainly face extra charges.
Investigators are also looking into the possibility that a third party helped the pair by allowing them to enter the Detroit building where they were discovered, and that individual might face charges, according to White. As the chief explained to reporters, the Crumbleys did not break into the building; rather, they were allowed in by that individual.
Investigators are unsure of the nature of the link between the Crumbleys and the other individual.
Following the arrests, White expressed gratitude to his fellow police as well as to the anonymous tipper.
“I couldn’t be more pleased with myself,” White remarked. Once again, our community came through for us tonight,” said the group.
The parents’ attorneys had previously stated that they had evacuated the area following the shooting for their own safety, but that they intended to return for their arraignment.
“It was for their own protection that the Crumbleys fled town on the fateful night of the fatal incident. They will be brought back to the area to be arraigned in court. Despite recent claims in the media, they are not attempting to run from law enforcement officers “Attorneys Shannon Smith and Mariell Lehman previously spoke with Fox News about the situation.
Early Saturday am, White told reporters that “turning yourself in” and sheltering in a warehouse were not indicative of what had happened.
“We’re weary of this,” he said, referring to school and other mass shootings. He told reporters that the manhunt should involve “as much people as it takes” in order to provide the families of the victims with “the closure that they deserve.”
As a fan of the second amendment, I genuinely feel that if this child had been well behaved, earning high grades, and having a strong network of friends, it would have been one thing. However, the parents were foolish enough to overlook the warning signals, and look where we are now. The freedom to bear arms does not come without a great deal of responsibility, and guns are no exception.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office has been enlisted to take custody of the pair.
