Sometimes, headlines write themselves and after Chris Cuomo, former CNN nightly host just got canned for alleged sexual misconduct, his hand-off partner could find himself in some deep water too.
Actor Jussie Smollett said Monday that CNN anchorman Don Lemon helped him with the investigation into a hate crime he is suspected of staging, according to the actor.

As a Fox News reporter at the trial reported, Mr. Smollett said he discovered through Mr. Lemon that the Chicago Police Department had doubts about his story in court testimony..
According to Smollett’s testimony, he was texted by the network’s Don Lemon — who is alleged to have relayed information that the Chicago Police Department (CPD) did not accept his narrative of what transpired.”
A few weeks prior, CNN had dismissed Chris Cuomo, its veteran lead-in anchorman, in part for his involvement in a big news story and providing counsel to one of the protagonists, which was then-Governor Andrew Cuomo’s brother.

Representatives for CNN and Mr. Lemon have not replied to Fox News’ request for comment, according to Fox News.
One of Mr. Smollett’s best friends, Mr. Lemon has been outspoken about his friendship with him, claiming that the supposed attack on Mr. Smollett, which he claimed was carried out by White supporters of former President Trump at 2 a.m. on an icy night, was “personal” to him.
He had previously stated that the two men had frequently corresponded after the alleged event, which he claimed Mr. Smollett had detailed to him.
If found guilty, Mr. Smollett could face up to six years in prison on each of six felony disorderly behavior charges. In spite of the fact that the offense is a Class 4 felony punishable by three years in jail, Mr. Smollett is unlikely to be locked up due to his lack of criminal record and other criteria such as this.
At 10-to-midnight, @DonLemon and @OmarJimenez finally discuss the Jussie Smollett trial. But neither "journalist" mentioned how Smollett testified under oath that Lemon tipped him off to police skepticism of his hoax claims.
