Singer Sinead O’Connor shocked her fans by announcing that her 17-year-old son Shane has died.

The New York Post reported that Sinead O’Connor has shocked fans by telling them her 17-year-old son Shane has died.

The 55-year-old tweeted: “My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God.

She later tweeted a Bob Marley song which she dedicated to Shane: “This is for my Shaney. The light of my life. The lamp of my soul. My blue-eye baby. You will always be my light. We will always be together. No boundary can separate us.”

Police had previously launched an appeal for assistance in tracing the whereabouts of Shane O’Connor who had been missing since Thursday in Talllaght with Sinead tweeting: “Shane, your life is precious. God didn’t chisel that beautiful smile on your beautiful face for nothing.

Police today confirmed the news saying they recovered the body of Shane O’Connor in the Bray area of Wicklow, Ireland.
