Chicago Mom Recognizes Her Teen Son as “Train Robbery Suspect” and Drags Him to Police Station

You gotta love a good mom, who always does the right thing no matter what.

And that’s what happened when a mom was watching TV and saw her son’s face on security footage. He was the suspect in an armed robbery on a metro train in Chicago.

So she did what any decent citizen and good mother would do – she dragged her son, a college student, into the police station and made him turn himself in.

The suspect’s name is Zion Brown, and he’s an 18-year-old sophomore at Loyola University Chicago.

Thanks to the security footage, he’s now been charged with armed robbery after allegedly stealing about $100 in cash at gunpoint from a Metra train conductor Tuesday afternoon,

Local news reported that after mom recognized the photos of the “masked suspect” that were shared by police and reported by the media, she dragged her son into a police station in Calumet City to turn himself in him.

It revealed this part of the story at Brown’s bond hearing.

His attorney is claiming the only reason his client robbed the person was that he was “hungry” and wanted to eat.

Hmmm. Sounds fishy.

Brown reportedly attended class after the armed hold-up. He’s being held without bail.

The New York Post reported Metra Police initially asked the public for help identifying the suspect spotted in two surveillance photos at the Van Buren Street Station in downtown Chicago. As the train pulled into the station around 2:17 p.m., the pictured offender, who was a passenger, “produced a black semi-automatic handgun and announced a robbery,” police said. He then allegedly proceeded to steal the conductor’s cash and fled on foot into the station. One of the photos shows the masked suspect with a weapon on the platform.

A conductor is seen in the background still holding his hands up.

During an interview with police, Brown allegedly said the weapon he displayed during the robbery was actually a BB gun, which he claimed to have thrown into a dumpster in an alley afterwards. Brown had no prior criminal record.

It sounds like he has a really amazing mom. I find it hard to believe she’d allow him to go “hungry.”

If you ask me, I think there’s a more nefarious reason for the hold-up. Probably drugs.

Hopefully, that mom just saved her son’s life.
